Adventech Collaborates with University of Kentucky’s SPARK Lab to Research MAXEFF Electric Motors

Florence, Alabama, September 23, 2024 – Adventech is pleased to announce a new research agreement with the University of Kentucky (UK). This collaboration, which involves the SPARK Lab at UK, aims to evaluate the performance of Adventech’s innovative MAXEFF electric motor cutting-edge technology for high energy efficiency.

Under this agreement, researchers at the UK Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering will collaborate with Adventech in modeling and assessing the performance of MAXEFF motors. Dr. Dan M. Ionel, the L. Stanley Pigman Chair in Power and Director of the Power and Energy Institute of Kentucky (PEIK) and the SPARK Laboratory, leads UK’s team. Dr. Ionel is an IEEE Fellow and a past recipient of the Veinott award, the highest distinction within the IEEE Power and Energy Society for electromechanical energy conversion. Before joining UK in 2015, Dr. Ionel worked for in industry 25 years, where he contributed to significant technological developments, as Chief Engineer for Regal Beloit Corp. and Chief Scientist for Vestas Wind Turbines. More information on the SPARK Lab and its research is available from the lab website at UK.

“We are excited to work with Dr. Ionel and the entire Spark Lab team,” said Ryan Baker, President at Adventech. “The Spark Lab’s significant motor knowledge will add substantial capability for the further development of what we, at Adventech, know is a high-performing motor technology. This partnership represents a significant step forward in our commitment to advancing MAXEFF motor technology.” This collaboration has the potential to make substantial contributions to energy conservation and sustainability, furthering the development of energy-efficient motor technology.
